Nao Humanoid Robot-Now can Go up the Spiral Staircase

Nao is a humanoid robot which has a height of only 58 cm and weighs of about 4.3 kg, and the innovation of Aldebaran Robotics, a robot development company based in France. The Nao robot able to demonstrate expression of humanity, for example is able to show a simple emotion as indicated by the one-year-old child.

This smart robot can also perform some movements such as walking, dancing, sitting, standing, kicking and grabbing a particular object. In addition, the robot is also able to turn his head in the direction of a speaker or sound source.

The Nao Robot developed in Linux operating system, but also compatible for Windows and Mac, equipped with two 640 x 480 CMOS camera, come with integrated computer systems and wifi connection, so it can perform the activity on the Internet, such as downloading and sending messages securely. Interestingly, the Nao is also equipped with speech function that can respond to verbal messages, email, books or other documents which sent to him.
The usefulness of this robot is a good partner in education which can be used ranging from beginner to expert class, so the learning of science and technology will be more enjoyable. Even according to some sources, the Nao robot also useful to clean up the leftovers/residual food, up to drain the pool.

The latest news about the new capabilities of this robot is able to climb the spiral staircase is quite difficult for many other robot. The Nao humanoid robot latest capabilities developed by scientists at the University of Freiburg's Humanoid Robots Laboratory, by using a laser scanner attached to the robot's head and this scanner provides direction in 3D.
