Hitachi creates Storage Media Technology that can Survive Forever

Data storage media is a device that is very important for us, because we can use to store important files like photos, documents, videos. But the main problems of these devices is sometimes easily damaged which makes us confused if in it there is a very important document.

Some storage media in general as we know its a CD/DVD which can be easily damaged by scratches, flash drives are easily damaged because computers often crash or error, or hard drives are easily damaged because of a fall and collide with other objects and often short-circuit power.

But recently heard a news, Hitachi has created a data storage media technology which resistant to weather even heat resistant up to 1,000 °C, and the data in it will not be damaged forever. This storage media in the form of a rectangular sheet of glass (quartz glass plate), and data to be stored in binary form (dots) in a thin layer in a glass.

According to some sources, this prototype has a length and a width of about 2cm and is only 2mm thick, which is a stable and elastic material and usually used to create beaker in the laboratory. For now
this storage media only capable of storing data up to 40MB through 4 layers of dots, but researchers believe in the future will add layers, so they can add capacity.
In addition to heat or flame resistant, this storage media is also rumored waterproof and its own chip also resistant to chemicals and are not affected by radio waves.
