But Leica has a better solution to produce black and white photos by presenting the Leica M-Monochrom, ie the first full frame digital camera in the world specifically designed to produce black and white photos.

With the absence of Colour Filter Array (CFA) in front of the sensor, makes the camera becomes unable to see the color, but the advantages of this sensor allows more lights is catch, wider dynamic range and low noise performance can be obtained. The Leica M-Monochrom carry the rangefinder system with retro design, supported by a full frame CCD sensor 18 megapixels, and a wide selection of ISO up to ISO 10,000.

When compared with the results of black and white photos through special software or filter effects available on digital cameras generally, the Leica M-Monochrom claimed to have better results, and interestingly color effects options are also available, such as Sepia effect, Cold or Selenium Toning.

Body of the camera is made of magnesium alloy with synthetic leather trim, has a LCD screen measuring 2.5-inches at the rear as well as an optical viewfinder for shooting, and offered at a price of U.S.$ 7,950 for the body only and be available in the U.S.market since July 2012.
