New Volvo V40-the First Car with Pedestrian Airbag Technology

For automotive enthusiasts may be familiar with Volvo as a brand that is very caring with the safety of drivers and pedestrians who are on the road. This time Volvo has officially announced the Pedestrian airbag technology in a Volvo V40, that focus on pedestrian safety to reduces the risk of injury if an accident or collision.

The technology is claimed to be the world's first airbag models, and stored between the windshield and hood. If the sensor located on the front bumper has detected a collision with humans, then the airbag will inflate to protect the head injury automatically and quickly.

This technology was developed to reduce the risk of injury, because of increasing number of accidents involving the pedestrians. In general these accidents result in severe injuries for pedestrians, especially on the head, due to the heavy collision with the windshield of the vehicle.

The Volvo V40 will also be supported by the Pedestrian Detection System technology, so it can detect any pedestrians who are around cars, even the brakes will work automatically if the driver ignores the warning.
Other than that some sources also mention the new Volvo V40 also has adopted the City Safety technology and has been updated : Lane Keeping Aid with auto steering, automatic Road Sign Information, Active High Beam technology and Park Assist Pilot Cross Traffic Alert.
